Fattoria Montecchio is a historic winery located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, near San Donato in Poggio. The estate covers approximately 300 hectares, including vineyards, olive groves, and farmland. Viticulture at Montecchio dates back to the 14th century, when the villa was owned by the Florentine Torrigiani family, famous luxury goods traders. Today, the winery produces a variety of wines, including the Chianti Classico DOCG, made primarily from Sangiovese grapes, enriched with Merlot. The 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva, for example, is appreciated for its deep ruby red color and complex aromas of ripe red fruits, spices, and vanilla. Fattoria Montecchio offers visitors immersive wine tourism experiences, including guided tours of the vineyards and winery, tastings of their renowned wines, and accommodations in their agriturismo, providing an authentic experience of Tuscan hospitality.
