Amarone della Valpolicella "Ca' Florian Vineyard" - 2003 - Tommasi
Ca' Florian represents the heart of Tommasi, the original vineyard and the place the family has called home since 1902. This fine Amarone celebrates the family's humble origins, located next to grandfather Giacomo's house and the first family vineyards. Traditions are preserved here, from the "marogne", dry stone terraced vineyards, to the "arele", bamboo trellises for drying the grapes. With fewer than 9,000 bottles produced each year, Ca' Florian expresses simplicity and elegance. The wine has an intense ruby red colour with garnet highlights. On the nose, it offers a complex bouquet of ripe red fruit, cherry, blackberry and plum, with hints of licorice and bitter cocoa. On the palate it is full-bodied and austere, with enveloping tannins and a fresh and persistent finish.
