Fratelli Oddero’s 1967 Barbaresco is a rare testament to the Piedmontese winemaking tradition of the 1960s, produced in a vintage considered excellent for Nebbiolo thanks to the slow and complete ripening of the grapes in the Langhe hills. After a long aging period, this wine presents a classic garnet color with orange highlights and develops a refined, evolved bouquet, in which aromas of wilted rose, dried violet, truffle, undergrowth, leather, tobacco, sweet spices, and light ethereal notes typical of great mature wines emerge. On the palate, it retains elegance, finesse, and depth, with tannins that are now soft and silky, good residual acidity, and a persistent finish evoking balsamic and earthy notes. Fratelli Oddero’s traditional winemaking style, based on long macerations and aging in large oak barrels, gave the wines a great capacity for evolution over time and a strong sense of place. Today, a bottle of 1967 Barbaresco by Oddero is considered a highly sought-after collector’s item among enthusiasts of old Piedmontese Nebbiolos, both for its historical value and for the charm of its mature and elegant aromatic characteristics.
