The Schiavenza farm, which has been in operation since 1956 in Serralunga d'Alba, was founded by brothers Vittorio and Ugo Alessandria. Today it is managed by their son-in-law Luciano Pira, an agronomist and winemaker, with the support of his wife Maura Alessandria and brother-in-law Walter Anselma. The farmhouse, once owned by the Opera Pia Barolo, owes its name to the “schiavenza” sharecroppers. The estate spans approximately ten hectares of vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba and four Piedmontese days in Monforte d’Alba. It produces high-quality red wines, particularly Barolo, made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, featuring spicy notes and a dry, full-bodied flavor.

I ordered three bottles: a 1999 French wine that I opened recently—it was a huge hit.
The other two were a Barolo Serralunga d’Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d’Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015. I haven’t opened them yet, but they look very promising.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent; the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and stuck out, but I managed to protect it anyway.
Excellent prices that you won’t find on other similar sites.
I’ll definitely be back to buy more.
