Dedicated 99% to red wine production, the Corton appellation can boast of being the only red Grand Cru in the Côte de Beaune. On the slopes of the Corton hill, the clayey and chalky soil, rich in marl, forms an excellent terroir from which the wines derive their noble qualities. Dense, closed, and very tannic in their youth, they can baffle more than a few enthusiasts; however, if you wait seven or eight years, cellaring will allow you to appreciate wonderful aromas of red fruits, spices, licorice, and animal notes, combined with their incomparable richness. Well-structured, they reveal lovely acidity and great length. Along with the wines of Pommard, those of Corton are certainly, among the wines of the Côte de Beaune, the ones with the best aging potential, ranging from 20 to 40 years depending on the vintage.
