Tuscany is undoubtedly one of Italy's most important wine regions, thanks to its celebrated, internationally renowned labels. A true jewel of global enology, it boasts an extraordinary variety of wines with distinct characteristics and a history stretching back centuries.

The typical Tuscan landscape alone speaks volumes about the area's strong winemaking vocation: miles and miles of splendid vineyards stretching across the hills of Chianti and the Etruscan Coast, or immersed in the postcard-perfect views of the Val d'Orcia and Val di Chiana.

This is a heritage of eleven controlled and guaranteed designations of origin (DOCG), forty-one controlled designations of origin (DOC) and six typical geographical indications (IGT).

One cannot talk about Tuscan winemaking – or even world winemaking – without thinking of Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Chianti Classico, and the Super Tuscans, produced in the Bolgheri area.

The undisputed soul of the region's red wines is Sangiovese, present in almost all DOCs. A red grape of exceptional quality and character, but not easy to grow, yielding vastly different results depending on the microclimate and soil where it is grown.
