Terreno’s philosophy is reflected in every stage of production, from the vineyard to the bottle. In the cellar, the grapes are cared for to enhance their qualities without altering their character. The harvest is manual and the grapes are further selected. It uses natural yeasts and ferments in open containers for wines to be aged, while to maintain the primary fruit it prefers steel tanks. The aging takes place in large barrels selected with artisan coopers. The wines have aromas of ripe cherries, berries, peppery spices, chocolate and tobacco, with a marked freshness and elegant tannins. The Ruhne family, active in Chianti Classico since 1988, has certified the vineyards organically since 2014. Terreno is self-sufficient and aims to pass the estate on to better future conditions, believing in the division of Chianti Classico into 11 municipalities and in the role of wine, food and beauty in improving the world.
