Whiskey and Spirits

Whiskey is a distilled spirit produced through the fermentation and subsequent distillation of various grains and aged in wooden barrels. Some grains, often barley, are germinated and converted into malt. Scottish, American, and Irish whiskeys are considered the best in the world, and in recent years, Japanese whiskeys have also joined their ranks.

Whiskey is the quintessential spirit for meditation, a treat to end the day that should definitely be savored without rushing.

It can be prepared on its own or served with Podolico cheese as an appetizer, with aged Pecorino for a “stronger” spirit, or with goat’s-milk Toma for a more delicate flavor.

A classic pairing is with high-quality dark chocolate.

Of course, you can pair whiskey with fine cigars or excellent pipe tobacco. Some English blends—which aren’t overly fragrant but are intense—evoke strong emotions and make for a truly satisfying finale.
