Château La Tour Carnet is a beautiful estate that stands out from the other estates in the region. It features a medieval castle surrounded by several moats, a drawbridge, and a tower, as well as a vast vineyard (over 170 hectares) in a single block, situated on clay-marl soil and almost entirely replanted in the 1960s. This Quatrième Grand Cru Classé from the Haut-Médoc is now owned by Bernard Magrez.

We have mentioned Bernard Magrez’s major investments. He turned to the renowned oenologist and consultant Michel Rolland, who suggested that he renovate the winery and the vineyards.

They span approximately 73 km, are on average thirty years old, and are largely cultivated according to traditional principles inspired by sustainable agriculture. The red wines are made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, while the white wines are made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Sémillon, and Muscadelle. The vineyards benefit greatly from a variety of soils, consisting mainly of clay, limestone, and gravel from the Garonne and the Pyrenees, which in turn rest on a limestone subsoil.
