The 2014 Barolo from Poderi Luigi Einaudi is a red wine made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes that embodies the classic and elegant style of the Langhe, with an emphasis on finesse rather than power. In the glass, it displays a garnet-red hue with already clearly visible orange reflections—a sign of a certain degree of development typical of the vintage. On the nose, it is complex and refined, with aromas of wilted rose, violet, small red fruits, spices, tobacco, leather, and light balsamic and tertiary notes that develop with oxidation. On the palate, it is harmonious and well-balanced, with a structure that is present but not overpowering, fine and well-integrated tannins, good acidity that enhances drinkability, and a texture that is more elegant than muscular. The finish is long and lingering, with spicy and floral undertones. The 2014 vintage is considered fresh and less concentrated than others, but it has produced very elegant wines that are already quite ready to drink. It is recommended to serve it at 16–18 degrees after briefly letting it breathe. It pairs well with structured dishes such as braised meats, roasts, red meat, game, hearty pasta dishes, and aged cheeses, making it, overall, a refined, balanced, and approachable Barolo with good drinkability and a traditional Langhe style.
