Château Larose-Monteils ist ein edelsüßer Weißwein von großem Charme, der zur prestigeträchtigen Appellation Sauternes in der Gemeinde Preignac gehört. Er zeichnet sich als kostbarer Nektar aus, der durch die Edelfäule auf den Trauben Sémillon und Sauvignon Blanc gewonnen wird. Dieser spezielle Jahrgang präsentiert sich in einer Farbgebung, die zu dunklem Bernstein und altem Kupfer tendiert und eine fortgeschrittene Reife offenbart. In der Nase zeigt er ein komplexes Aromaspektrum von getrockneten Aprikosen, Datteln, gebranntem Karamell und subtilen Noten von Schokolade und Kastanienhonig. Im Mund ist die Struktur dicht und umhüllend mit einer bedeutenden Restsüße, die jedoch durch eine noch vorhandene Säureader ausgeglichen wird. Diese Säure verleiht dem Schluck Schwung und führt zu einem sehr langen Abgang, der an kandierte Früchte und orientalische Gewürze erinnert. Er findet seine ideale Begleitung in sehr reifem Blauschimmelkäse wie pikantem Gorgonzola oder Roquefort oder als Begleiter zu Gänseleberpastete, serviert bei einer Temperatur von etwa 10 Grad.
