This long, narrow “Climat,” ideally situated in Burgundy, is surrounded on three sides by Romanée Conti, La Tâche, and Romanée Saint Vivant. The wine from this terroir—classified as a Grand Cru since 1991—was formerly sold under the name “Romanée Grande-Rue.” The wines from this vineyard, part of Domaine Lamarche, offer elegance and finesse. Quality is guaranteed by low yields, perfectly ripe grapes, and an extremely rigorous selection process. In the Grande Rue, we find the extreme finesse, sophistication, and noble character of Vosne’s finest soils. This cru stands out from other Vosne-Romanées due to its beautiful dark color and its spicy, floral notes and black cherry flavors.
Domaine Lamarche is a family-run estate whose expertise has been passed down through generations. Since 1797, 14 different wines have been produced on the prestigious terroirs of Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot. This family business is run by François Lamarche, his wife Marie-Blanche, his sister Geneviève, and his daughter Nicole. It spans 11.23 hectares, which are cultivated using sustainable agricultural methods and planted in equal parts with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc. Known for its exclusive rights to one of the rare Grand Crus of Vosne-Romanée, the Grande Rue, the estate also owns three other Grand Crus: Clos de Vougeot, Échezeaux, and Grands-Échezeaux. The Lamarche family produces and ages its wines in accordance with principles such as low yields, full ripening of the grapes, and very strict selection.
