The Domaine Bruno Clavelier has been based in Vosne-Romanée since the late 18th century. At one time, the estate’s wines were marketed by the Maison de Négoce of the same name (run by another branch of the family), which was subsequently sold in 1991. Bruno Clavelier then decided to give up his career as a rugby player to devote himself to the remaining plots of the estate and to bottle his own wines. Initially assisted by his Burgundian grandfather Joseph, he has also been working alongside his wife Valérie since 2003. Bruno Clavelier subsequently expanded the estate, which is now organically farmed and spans 6 hectares, through the acquisition of plots in Vosne-Romanée, Corton, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Chambolle-Musigny. Some of the estate’s vines were planted in the 1930s and 1940s. Here, Bruno Clavelier produces about fifteen single-vineyard cuvées of excellent quality, and the estate has recently begun to establish itself as a true benchmark among lovers of Burgundy wines.
