Whiskey and Spirits

Whiskey is a spirit produced by fermenting and then distilling various grains, which is then aged in wooden barrels. Some grains, often barley, are germinated and turned into malt. The world’s finest whiskeys are considered to be those from Scotland, the United States, and Ireland, and in recent years, Japanese whiskeys as well.

Whiskey is the quintessential spirit for contemplation, a treat to savor at the end of the day—one to be enjoyed strictly without haste.

You can enjoy it on its own or paired with Podolico cheese bites, or with aged pecorino for a more “robust” spirit, or with goat’s milk toma for something more delicate.

A classic pairing is with high-quality dark chocolate.

Of course, you can pair whiskey with fine cigars or excellent pipe tobacco; English Mixtures that aren’t overly fragrant but are full-bodied will provide a truly indulgent experience to round off the day.
