Made from 100% Nebbiolo and aged for about 24 months in oak barrels, this wine combines power and finesse in impeccable balance. On the nose, it stands out for notes of cherry, rose petals, licorice, and sweet spices, accompanied by balsamic and mineral hints. On the palate, it is structured and enveloping, with dense yet velvety tannins, great depth, and a long, harmonious finish that reflects the cru’s class. The 2021 vintage was extraordinary in the Langhe, characterized by consistent weather and perfect ripening. The cold, rainy winter ensured optimal water reserves, while the hot but balanced summer, followed by cool nights, fostered a slow and complete ripening of the Nebbiolo grapes. I ordered three bottles: a 1999 French wine that I opened recently—it was a huge hit.
The other two were a Barolo Serralunga d’Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d’Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015. I haven’t opened them yet, but they look very promising.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent; the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and stuck out, but I managed to protect it anyway.
Great prices you won’t find on other similar sites.
I’ll definitely be back to buy more.
