This long, narrow climat, ideally situated in Burgundy, is surrounded on three sides by Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. The wine from this terroir, classified as a Grand Cru since 1991, was formerly sold under the name “Romanée Grande-Rue.” The wines from this Domaine Lamarche estate offer elegance and finesse. Quality is guaranteed by low yields, perfectly ripe grapes, and extremely rigorous selection. In the Grande Rue, we find the extreme finesse, refinement, and noble character of Vosne’s finest terroirs. This cru stands out from other Vosne-Romanées for its splendid dark color and its spicy, floral, and black cherry notes.
Domaine Lamarche is a family-owned estate whose expertise has been passed down through generations. It has been producing 14 different wines since 1797 on the prestigious terroirs of Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot. This family-run estate is managed by François Lamarche, his wife Marie-Blanche, his sister Geneviève, and his daughter Nicole. It spans 11.23 hectares cultivated using sustainable farming practices and divided equally among Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc. Known for its exclusive ownership of one of the rare Grand Cru vineyards in Vosne-Romanée, the Grande Rue, the estate also owns three other Grand Cru vineyards: the Clos de Vougeot, Échezeaux, and Grands-Échezeaux. The Lamarche family produces and ages its wines in-house, adhering to principles such as low yields, full ripening of the grapes, and very strict selection.
