Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret cultivates, in keeping with the purest Burgundian tradition, an extensive vineyard spanning the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, which includes several highly renowned terroirs, such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Savigny-lès-Beaune. The heart of the estate is located in Vosne-Romanée. Vincent Mongeard, Jean’s son, is committed not only to renewing and improving the family’s legacy but also to expanding it at every possible opportunity to broaden the estate’s portfolio. Today, the estate spans approximately 30 hectares, divided among 33 appellations of Bourgogne Blanc and Aligoté, but above all, it produces red wines from the finest terroirs of the Côte. The vineyard faces southeast and is situated midway up the hillside on clay-limestone soils. This estate produces excellent, elegant, and delicate cuvées, characterized by an extraordinary velvety texture.
This Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru En Orveaux is, of course, a 100% Pinot Noir from vineyards cultivated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture in a terroir consisting of thin layers of alluvial soil resting on limestone. The vines are between 30 and 57 years old, and the grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. They are carefully selected and destemmed based on the quality of the vintage, and the winemaking process concludes with aging in oak barrels. It can certainly be enjoyed young, but it will improve with at least 8 years of aging in the cellar. It is ideal for pairing with simple yet flavorful dishes, such as roasted white meats.
