The Bersano Winery was founded by Giuseppe Bersano in the late 19th century. It was a family-run winery, like almost all producers of the time, and its wines were sold regionally. From the very beginning, the winery pursued the acquisition of vineyards traditionally located around the aging cellar in Nizza Monferrato, with Barbera d'Asti as the starting grape. This grape variety would play a key role throughout the winery's history. Very soon, the same desire for growth drove the winery to purchase vineyards in the Langhe, in the Barolo and Barbaresco zones. In certain years when production is particularly good, some wineries may decide to produce Barolo Riservas, which must meet specific requirements, one of which is that the wine must be stored in the cellars for at least five years before it can be tasted.
