Ettore Germano's Barolo Cerretta 2017 is a red wine of great character obtained from Nebbiolo grapes from the Cerretta cru in Serralunga d'Alba, one of the most structured and long-lived areas of the denomination. It presents itself in the glass with an intense garnet red color with orange reflections already visible, a sign of the typical evolution of the grape variety. The nose is complex and deep with aromas of dried rose, ripe red fruits, plum, sweet spices, tobacco, leather, licorice and light balsamic and mineral notes. On the palate it is full and enveloping with an important structure, tannins still present but already well integrated thanks to the aging in wood and a freshness that supports the sip making it balanced and dynamic. The finish is long and persistent with spicy and earthy returns. The 2017 vintage was warm and gave Barolos that are powerful and concentrated but generally already expressive in their youth. It is recommended to serve it at 16-18 degrees with a decanting of at least an hour and it pairs perfectly with important red meats and braised meats. game and mature cheeses, resulting in an overall Barolo with a deep structure and strong personality and excellent aging potential.
