Il Brunello di Montalcino 1999 de La Serena è un vino rosso ottenuto da uve Sangiovese Grosso in purezza che rappresenta uno stile tradizionale e territoriale di Montalcino, oggi in una fase di piena evoluzione, si presenta nel calice con un colore rosso granato profondo con evidenti riflessi aranciati tipici di un lungo affinamento in bottiglia, al naso è ampio e complesso con profumi terziari di ciliegia sotto spirito prugna secca rosa appassita cuoio tabacco spezie dolci liquirizia sottobosco e note terrose e balsamiche che si sviluppano con l’ossigenazione, al palato è armonico e maturo con tannini ormai setosi e perfettamente integrati una struttura ancora presente ma levigata dal tempo e una freschezza residua che mantiene il sorso vivo ed elegante, il finale è lungo persistente e molto sfaccettato con ritorni di frutta matura spezie e note eteree, l’annata 1999 a Montalcino è considerata molto buona con vini equilibrati e longevi capaci di evolvere con grande eleganza nel tempo, si consiglia di servirlo a circa 18 gradi con estrema delicatezza e una eventuale ossigenazione breve per liberare gli aromi, si abbina bene a piatti ricchi ma non troppo aggressivi come brasati selvaggina nobile arrosti importanti e formaggi stagionati oppure può essere degustato da solo come vino da meditazione risultando nel complesso un Brunello maturo elegante complesso e profondamente espressivo del territorio di Montalcino.
