Il Château Clauzet Saint-Estèphe 1994 è un vino rosso della denominazione Saint-Estèphe, nella regione di Bordeaux, che rappresenta lo stile classico e strutturato della riva sinistra, dove prevale il Cabernet Sauvignon affiancato dal Merlot per aggiungere equilibrio e rotondità; l’annata 1994 a Bordeaux è stata discreta ma non eccezionale, con vini inizialmente tannici e piuttosto austeri che hanno richiesto lungo affinamento in bottiglia, e oggi questo vino si presenta con un colore granato evoluto con riflessi mattone, mentre al naso offre aromi maturi di frutta rossa e nera evoluta come ribes e prugna, accompagnati da note terziarie di cuoio, tabacco, terra umida, sottobosco e leggere sfumature speziate e boisé; al palato è ormai morbido e delicato, con tannini completamente addolciti dal tempo, una struttura snella ma ancora armonica e una freschezza residua che sostiene il sorso, con un finale medio-lungo giocato su note terrose e speziate, e grazie a questo profilo si abbina bene a piatti tradizionali e saporiti come carni rosse arrosto o in umido, pollame nobile, stufati, preparazioni con funghi e formaggi stagionati non troppo intensi, risultando un vino evoluto che privilegia finezza e complessità aromatica rispetto alla potenza.
