The 1986 Château d'Arche is a sweet white wine of extraordinary elegance, representing one of the most successful expressions of this estate located in the heart of the Sauternes appellation. Characterized by a brilliant antique gold color with topaz highlights due to its long aging, this wine offers an extremely complex aromatic bouquet on the nose, featuring intense notes of candied mandarin, orange honey, and candied apricot, enriched with refined hints of toasted coconut, vanilla, and sweet spices derived from the barrel aging. On the palate, it is rich and concentrated, yet supported by a vibrant freshness that perfectly balances the sugar content, offering a harmonious and never tiring sip that fades into a lingering finish with hints of citrus zest and saffron. The 1986 vintage was particularly favorable for Bordeaux fortified wines, thanks to a warm summer followed by autumn rains that allowed the noble rot to spread rapidly and perfectly, giving this wine a more aristocratic and aromatic structure than subsequent vintages.
