Elegance, finesse, and refinement are the words that come to mind to describe this wine produced on an estate in the eastern part of Pomerol, near Saint-Émilion. The Château la Conseillante vineyard is one of the oldest on the Pomerol plateau and takes its name from Catherine Conseillan, owner of the château in the 18th century. Since 1871, it has belonged to the Nicolas family, who have passed down the tradition from generation to generation, maintaining the wine at an extremely high level of quality.

The 12 hectares of vineyard are divided into two sections with completely different characteristics, perfectly matching the two grape varieties used to produce the wine: to the north, for the Merlot vines, the gray clay soil rests on a red clay subsoil, indicative of the rich iron content, characteristic of the Petrus terroir. For the vineyards located to the south of the property, near the Saint-Émilion appellation, the subsoil is sandy-gravelly, particularly suited to Cabernet Franc, a variety that expresses itself best in the nearby Cheval Blanc. The management of each individual plot is respected at every stage of the winemaking process, under the supervision of the talented Jean-Michel Laporte. The wines are then aged for nearly two years in barriques, with an annual turnover of 60% to 100%, depending on the vintage.
