La prima annata di produzione di Fontalloro è stata nel 1983. Fèlsina è varietà di clima, di paesaggio, di terreni. I suoi diversi vigneti sono caratterizzati da suoli e microclimi diversi, unici nella loro particolarità. Da questa straordinaria varietà nasce il Sangiovese di Fèlsina, o Sangioveto, parola toscana che ne identifica l’origine. I vigneti, dai quali provengono le uve per la produzione del Fontalloro, si trovano all’interno del Chianti Classico nella parte alta di Fèlsina e nella denominazione del Chianti Colli Senesi. Sono caratterizzati da terreni diversi: rocciosi, calcarei e argillosi, quelli del Chianti Classico; ricchi di sabbie, limo, piccoli ciottoli e sedimenti marini, quelli sul confine con le Crete Senesi.

Da uve sangiovese. Ha maturato per circa 18 mesi in barrique. Grande versione. Colore ancora incredibilmente vivo e intenso, con tonalità rubino granate. Profumi intensi e giovanili, evidenti sentori di amarena e ribes, poi accenni speziati e di tabacco. Sapore pieno ed equilibrato, molto composto, con tannini vellutati e finale caldo e persistente.

I ordered three bottles, a 1999 French, recently opened, made a great impression.
The other two are a Barolo Serralunga d'Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d'Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015, which I have yet to open but the prospects are excellent.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent, the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and protruding but I still managed to protect it.
Great prices that you won't find on other similar sites.
I will definitely be back to buy more.
