Il Mormoreto di Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi è un Super Tuscan storico della tenuta di Marchesi de' Frescobaldi, prodotto in un’epoca in cui lo stile del vino era ancora molto orientato a struttura, estrazione e legno importante, con un taglio bordolese basato principalmente su Cabernet Sauvignon con piccoli apporti di altri vitigni internazionali.
Oggi, dopo oltre trent’anni, si trova in una fase di piena evoluzione terziaria: al naso emergono profumi complessi di frutta nera matura ormai sotto spirito, prugna secca e amarena, insieme a note di cuoio, tabacco, sigaro, cacao amaro, spezie dolci e un caratteristico fondo di sottobosco, terra umida e foglie secche.
In bocca mantiene ancora una certa struttura, ma il tannino è ormai completamente integrato e levigato dal tempo, lasciando spazio a una sensazione più morbida e avvolgente rispetto alla sua giovinezza. L’acidità residua sostiene il vino e gli dà ancora una buona vitalità, mentre il finale è lungo, terroso e speziato, con ritorni di frutta scura essiccata e note affumicate.
È un vino che oggi si esprime soprattutto sulla complessità e sull’eleganza evolutiva, più che sulla potenza originaria, e che dà il meglio con piatti ricchi e saporiti come selvaggina in umido, brasati, arrosti importanti e formaggi stagionati, dove la sua profondità aromatica può emergere senza essere coperta.
