Il Sassicaia 1997 è uno dei vini italiani più conosciuti nel mondo, un monumento enologico campione di equilibrio, è il fiore all'occhiello dell'enologia italiana, uno dei vini toscani che ha portato i Supertuscan ad essere famosi nel mondo. Nasce da un'intuizione di Mario Incisa della Rocchetta che volle coronare il suo sogno di creare un vino come i grandi di Bordeaux, decise dunque di piantare vigneti di Cabernet Franc e Cabernet Sauvignon nella sua proprietà, la Tenuta San Guido.
Bolgheri Sassicaia is a regal wine, a brilliant ruby red in color. The nose reveals notes of cherries, blackcurrants, rosemary, and lavender, along with raspberry leaves and a variety of herbaceous notes, pipe tobacco, and hints of oak. On the palate, it is intense and immediately surprising, complex and smooth, with a good body and infinite persistence.
It's a long-lived wine, undaunted by time, an immortal bottle. It's a perfect representation of the Bolgheri terroir, the first Italian wine so important as to require its own production regulations, the Bolgheri DOC.
