Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret cultivates, in accordance with the purest Burgundian tradition, a large vineyard spanning the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, including some highly renowned terroirs, such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Savigny-lès-Beaune. The heart of the estate is located in Vosne-Romanée. Vincent Mongeard, Jean's son, is committed not only to renewing and enhancing the family estate, but also to expanding it at every opportunity to broaden the estate's portfolio. The estate currently comprises approximately 30 hectares, divided into 33 appellations of Bourgogne Blanc and Aligoté, but primarily produces red wines from the finest terroirs of the Côte. The vineyard faces southeast and is situated halfway up the hillside on clay-limestone soils. This estate produces excellent, elegant and delicate cuvées, characterised by an extraordinary velvety texture.
This Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru En Orveaux is, of course, a pure Pinot Noir from vines cultivated according to sustainable farming principles in a terroir consisting of thin alluvial soils resting on limestone soils. The vines are between 30 and 57 years old, and the grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. They are carefully selected and destemmed based on the quality of the vintage, and the winemaking process concludes with aging in oak barrels. It can be enjoyed young, but will improve with at least eight years of cellaring. It is ideal for pairing with simple yet flavorful dishes, such as roast white meats.
