The 1992 Château Gruaud Larose is a refined red wine from Saint-Julien, classified as a Deuxième Cru Classé, which elegantly expresses the typical character of great Bordeaux blends dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, despite the climatic challenges of a vintage marked by a hot summer followed by a rainy September. In the glass, it displays a deep ruby-red hue tending toward garnet, a sign of full maturity that has transformed its youthful vigor into tertiary complexity, featuring aromas of underbrush, leather, tobacco, and delicate notes of black fruit jam. On the palate, the structure is balanced and less tannic than the estate’s more muscular vintages, offering a silky, velvety texture supported by good freshness that keeps the wine lively through to a persistent and harmonious finish. Thanks to its long aging in the bottle, this wine has smoothed out its initial rough edges, becoming an ideal companion for hearty meat dishes such as beef braised in red wine, lamb with herbs, or small game, reaching its full potential when served at a temperature of about 16–18 degrees after a brief aeration.
