Arbois im Osten Frankreichs ist der Spitzname am produktivsten in der Jura-Weinregion für Rot-, Weiß- und Roséweine. Auch die berühmten Jura-Stile Vin Jaune und Vin de Paille (Gelbwein und Strohwein) können hier hergestellt werden, aber Arbois hat sich seinen Ruf vor allem mit Rotweinen erworben. Die Stadt Arbois ist die regionale Weinhauptstadt des Jura. Etwa 70 Prozent der Jura-Rotweine werden unter dem Namen Arbois produziert. Savagnin und Chardonnay sind die weißen Rebsorten. Fertige Arbois-Weine decken eine bemerkenswerte Bandbreite des Weinfarbspektrums ab. Einheimische verwenden neben Rot, Weiß und Rosa häufig auch Bezeichnungen wie Corail (Koralle) und Ruby (Rubin). Diese Vielfalt ist vor allem darauf zurückzuführen, dass „weiße“ Arbois-Weine mit bis zu 20 % roten Trauben hergestellt werden können – und umgekehrt.
