The town of Barolo, which gave its name to the “King of Wines,” is located in Piedmont, in the heart of the Langhe hills. The quality of the wines produced in this area is characterized by numerous high-quality indigenous grape varieties and a unique soil composition, featuring alternating layers of clay, calcareous marl, blue marl, tuff, sandstone, and sand. Thanks to this exceptional terroir, Nebbiolo—Barolo’s native grape variety—is able to reveal all its characteristic qualities: robust and austere, capable of standing the test of time and, through winemaking, reflecting all the aromas and characteristics of the soil. Drawing on a wealth of experience that has now become historic, Marchesi di Barolo sees itself as a faithful interpreter of the diversity of the terroirs and the native grape varieties, whose distinct character is strictly respected and preserved through the winemaking process of the grapes from the various vineyards. The estate spans approximately 120 hectares of vineyards and produces wines from the most important native grape varieties of the Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato regions.
To better highlight and define the characteristics of the various vineyards, the most prestigious historic crus are vinified as single-varietal wines, aged, and bottled individually.
