Ruffino’s Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale Oro 2008 is a red wine of the highest quality, made primarily from Sangiovese grapes with small amounts of complementary grape varieties. It is one of the most prestigious and long-aging versions of the historic Riserva Ducale label. In the glass, it displays an intense garnet-red color with distinct orange hues, a sign of long aging. The nose is broad and complex, with aromas of ripe cherry, morello cherry, prune, sweet spices, tobacco, leather, and tertiary notes of underbrush, damp earth, and balsamic vinegar. On the palate, it is structured and harmonious, with tannins that are now silky and well-integrated, a lingering freshness that supports the mouthfeel, and an elegant texture that combines finesse and depth. The finish is long, persistent, and multi-layered, with spicy, fruity, and slightly toasty aftertones. The 2008 vintage in Chianti Classico is considered very good, well-balanced, and conducive to the production of long-lived, well-structured wines that can develop with elegance over time. It is recommended to serve it at about 18 degrees with a light aeration.
