Il Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 1970 di Domaine Faiveley è una rara testimonianza storica di uno dei terroir più austeri e raffinati della Côte de Nuits, proveniente da un'annata che in Borgogna è stata generosa e di buona struttura. Questo Grand Cru, situato proprio accanto allo Chambertin, è noto per produrre vini più sottili e minerali rispetto al vicino più muscoloso, e la versione di Faiveley degli anni '70 riflette lo stile tradizionale e solido che ha reso celebre il Domaine. Dopo oltre cinquant'anni, il vino si presenta con una veste color granato scarico e riflessi aranciati, offrendo un naso evoluto e aristocratico dove dominano note di humus, foglie secche, scatola di sigari, cuoio vecchio e una sottile traccia di frutti rossi in confettura. Al palato, la struttura originariamente ferma si è trasformata in una trama eterea e fragile, dove i tannini sono ormai un ricordo setoso e la persistenza è affidata a una sapidità minerale ancora presente. Nonostante il 1970 non sia considerato un'annata da lunghissimo invecchiamento come il 1971 o il 1978, la conservazione nelle cantine Faiveley ha permesso a molte di queste bottiglie di arrivare ai giorni nostri con una dignità e un fascino rari. Va maneggiato con estrema cura: si consiglia di non decantarlo per evitare uno shock ossidativo letale, ma di aprirlo e servirlo direttamente a 17°C in calici ampi, abbinandolo a piatti dal sapore delicato e autunnale come un risotto ai funghi o una quaglia, per celebrarne la fine di un lungo percorso evolutivo.
