The town of Barolo, which gave its name to the “King of Wines,” is located in Piedmont, in the heart of the Langhe hills. The quality of the wines produced in this region is characterized by numerous highly prized native grape varieties and a unique soil composition, featuring a mix of clay, calcareous marl, bluish marl, tuff, sandstone, and sand. Thanks to this extraordinary terroir, Nebbiolo—Barolo’s native grape variety—is able to fully express all its typical qualities: powerful and austere, capable of aging well and, through the winemaking process, reflecting all the aromas and characteristics of the soil. Drawing on a wealth of experience that has become part of its history, Marchesi di Barolo stands as a faithful interpreter of the diversity of its terroirs and native grape varieties, rigorously respecting and preserving their distinctive character through the winemaking of grapes sourced from various vineyards. The estate spans approximately 120 hectares of vineyards, producing wines from the main native grape varieties of the Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato regions.
To better highlight and enhance the characteristics of the various vineyards,themost prestigious historic crus are vinified as single-varietal wines, aged, and bottled individually.

I ordered three bottles: a French wine from 1999 that I opened recently—it was a huge hit.
The other two were a Barolo Serralunga d’Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d’Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015. I haven’t opened them yet, but they look very promising.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent; the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and stuck out, but I managed to protect it anyway.
Great prices you won’t find on other similar sites.
I’ll definitely be back to buy more.
