This is a Pinot Noir with character that perfectly reflects a vintage that was initially austere and very tannic, but has now evolved into a fascinating complexity. This specific vineyard, the most famous in Maranges for its southern exposure and deep limestone soils, produces wines with a solid, almost “earthy” structure, which have softened over time without losing their vigor. Thirty years after harvest, the wine presents a garnet hue with orange highlights and an aromatic profile dominated by tertiary notes of undergrowth, leather, truffle, and licorice, which have replaced the crisp fruit of its youth. On the palate, the originally austere texture has transformed into a silky, deep mouthfeel, supported by a backbone of acidity that has ensured its extraordinary longevity. Vinified according to Burgundian tradition, it is now a gem for connoisseurs of mature Burgundy, ideal to serve at 16–17°C after brief aeration to separate any sediment. It pairs well with game birds, duck, or savory aged cheeses.
