Der Brunello di Montalcino 2020 von Villa Poggio Salvi ist ein klassisches Beispiel für einen gut gemachten, schnörkellosen, aber substanziellen toskanischen Brunello. Er wird zu 100 % aus Sangiovese Grosso von Weinbergen mit südwestlicher Ausrichtung auf Galestro-Böden zwischen 350 und 500 m Höhe hergestellt und reift etwa 30 Monate in slawonischen Eichenfässern, bevor er auf den Markt kommt.
Im Glas präsentiert er sich in einem schönen, intensiven Rubinrot. In der Nase ist er reich und vielschichtig: reife rote Früchte (Kirsche, Pflaume), florale Noten von Veilchen, süße Gewürze und ein balsamisch-kräuteriger Hauch, der das Terroir klar zum Ausdruck bringt. Im Mund bestätigt er, was er in der Nase verspricht: Er ist voll, strukturiert und gut ausbalanciert, mit eleganten Tanninen und lebendiger Frische, die ihn schon jetzt angenehm machen, aber auch noch Raum für weitere Jahre der Entwicklung lassen. Der Abgang ist lang und anhaltend.
