The success of Azienda Agricola Fratelli Berlucchi lies in the perfect harmony between Francesco, Gabriella, Marcello, Roberto, and Pia Donata. The company boasts a total of nearly 70 hectares of vineyards, all of which are registered as DOC and DOCG, as well as the extensive experience of oenologist Cesare Ferrari, who has served as the company’s technical director for over thirty years.
All of this creates a context from which Franciacorta wines of great character, charm, and precision emerge—wines whose secret lies in the long aging process that defines them. Producing Franciacorta requires a great deal of time: About seven months after the harvest, yeast is added to the base wine and the wine is bottled to initiate a second fermentation, which lasts about two months. Afterward, the bottles must rest on the lees in the cellar for at least 18 months (thirty months or more for vintage wines) before each Franciacorta can be disgorged and then dosed. At the “Fratelli Berlucchi” winery, all these timeframes are significantly extended to ensure that each cuvée achieves the elegance that is the true hallmark of the company based in Borgonato, a small hamlet of Corte Franca in the province of Brescia.
