Der Brunello di Montalcino 1999 von La Serena ist ein Rotwein, der aus 100% Sangiovese Grosso-Trauben gewonnen wird und einen traditionellen und territorialen Stil von Montalcino repräsentiert, der sich heute in einer Phase der vollen Entwicklung befindet. Im Glas zeigt er eine tiefe granatrote Farbe mit deutlichen orangefarbenen Reflexen, die typisch für eine lange Flaschenreifung sind. In der Nase ist er breit und komplex mit tertiären Aromen von Kirsche in Alkohol, getrockneter Pflaume, getrockneter Rose, Leder, Tabak, süßen Gewürzen, Lakritz, Unterholz sowie erdigen und balsamischen Noten, die sich mit der Sauerstoffzufuhr entwickeln. Am Gaumen ist er harmonisch und reif mit seidigen und perfekt integrierten Tanninen, einer noch vorhandenen, aber durch die Zeit geglätteten Struktur und einer Restfrische, die den Schluck lebendig und elegant hält. Der Abgang ist lang, anhaltend und sehr vielschichtig mit Anklängen an reife Früchte, Gewürze und ätherische Noten. Der Jahrgang 1999 in Montalcino gilt als sehr gut, mit ausgewogenen und langlebigen Weinen, die sich mit großer Eleganz im Laufe der Zeit entwickeln können.
