Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret cultivates a large vineyard in the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in the purest Burgundian tradition, encompassing several very famous terroirs such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Savigny-lès-Beaune. The heart of the estate is located in Vosne-Romanée. Vincent Mongeard, Jean’s son, is committed not only to renewing and enhancing the family legacy but also to expanding it at every opportunity to broaden the estate’s product range. Today, the estate spans approximately 30 hectares, divided among 33 appellations of Bourgogne Blanc and Aligoté, but primarily produces red wines from the finest terroirs of the Côte. The vineyard faces southeast and is situated on a hillside with clay-limestone soils. This winery produces excellent, elegant, and delicate cuvées characterized by an exceptionally velvety texture.
This Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru En Orveaux is, of course, a single-varietal Pinot Noir made from vines cultivated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture on a terroir characterized by thin alluvial layers over limestone soils. The vines are between 30 and 57 years old, and the grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. They are carefully selected and destemmed depending on the quality of the vintage, and the winemaking process concludes with aging in oak barrels. It can be enjoyed young without hesitation, but will improve with at least 8 years of cellaring. It pairs perfectly with simple yet flavorful dishes such as pan-seared white meat.
