Château Lestage Simon è un Cru Bourgeois dell’Haut-Médoc che esprime uno stile classico e tradizionale del Médoc. L’annata 1995 a Bordeaux è considerata molto buona, con vini strutturati, tannici e longevi, grazie a un andamento climatico favorevole e a una maturazione ottimale delle uve.

Nel calice si presenta con un rosso granato profondo, con evidenti riflessi aranciati sull’unghia, tipici dell’evoluzione.

Al naso è complesso e maturo: ribes nero sotto spirito, prugna, note di tabacco, cuoio, sottobosco, humus, spezie scure e leggere sfumature balsamiche.

Al palato è strutturato ma armonico, con tannini ormai levigati dal tempo, buona tenuta acida e corpo pieno. Il finale è lungo, con richiami terziari di liquirizia, cacao amaro e note boisée integrate. 

Il formato magnum ha favorito un’evoluzione più lenta e conservativa. Oggi il 1995 si trova in una fase di piena maturità evolutiva: vino complesso, elegante e perfettamente pronto, con possibile ulteriore tenuta ma da apprezzare ora per l’equilibrio raggiunto.

I ordered three bottles, a 1999 French, recently opened, made a great impression.
The other two are a Barolo Serralunga d'Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d'Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015, which I have yet to open but the prospects are excellent.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent, the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and protruding but I still managed to protect it.
Great prices that you won't find on other similar sites.
I will definitely be back to buy more.
