Il “Titolo” nasce sui pendii del vulcano spento Monte Vulture, nella contrada Solagna del Titolo (comune di Barile, PZ) a circa 600 m di altitudine. Il suolo vulcanico – ricco di lava, lapilli, cenere e strati di argilla (“pozzolana”) – conferisce al vino un carattere deciso e minerale. Le vigne hanno età molto consistenti (45–65 anni o più) e pratiche agronomiche attente. La vinificazione prevede raccolta manuale, fermentazione in acciaio con temperatura controllata, malolattica e affinamento in barrique e bottiglia. Nel calice, il colore si presenta rubino intenso con riflessi granati (invecchiando). Al naso esprime frutti neri e rossi maturi (ciliegia, more), note speziate e fumé, erbe mediterranee, tabacco. Sensazione di pietra vulcanica, cenere. Al palato è pieno, strutturato, con tannini presenti ma ben integrati, buona acidità che lo tiene agile; la mineralità del suolo si fa sentire in armonia con il frutto e la spezia. Il finale è lungo, persistente, con ricordi di prugna, erba aromatica, spezia dolce e leggera tostatura.
È un vino con grande potenziale di evoluzione, destinato a mostrare ulteriore complessità dopo anni di bottiglia.
