The "Costasera" Riserva is a special selection of the eponymous Amarone, created thanks to Masi's expertise in the appassimento technique. The native Valpolicella Classica grapes (Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, and the rediscovered Oseleta) are overripened for a long period on bamboo racks, concentrating aromas and sugars.
The bouquet is intense, complex, and exuberant, with notes of overripe red and black fruit, such as prunes and cherries, enriched with nuances of sweet spices, cinnamon, vanilla, dark chocolate, and balsamic notes (anise, mint). On the palate, it is warm, enveloping, and powerful, yet incredibly elegant and balanced. The tannins are fine, silky, and smooth, with a freshness that balances the richness of the cooked fruit. The finish is long, dry, and persistent. The wine ages for a minimum of three years in Slavonian oak barrels before bottling.
It is an ideal wine for red meats, game and mature cheeses, or as a superb meditation wine at the end of a meal.
