Questo Barbaresco Pajè 2010 rispecchia perfettamente la filosofia produttiva dell'azienda Roagna perchè si tratta di un vino tradizionale ma ottenuto con un occhio sempre rivolto all'innovazione. Il "Pajè" è prodotto da uve di Nebbiolo in purezza derivanti da un'unica storica vigna, che appartiene alla famiglia Roagna dal 1953. La qualità delle uve è altissima grazie alla presenza di calcare nel terreno e all'età delle piante che si aggira sui 40-50 anni. La fermentazioneè spontanea a carico di lieviti indigeni e si solge in botti di legno grande, con una macerazione sulle bucce a cappello sommerso per circa 2 mesi e mezzo. Segue affinamento in botte grande di rovere neutro per 5 anni. Il Barberesco "Pajè" esprime alla vista un colore rosso rubino con chiari riflessi granati, al naso regala un bouquet intenso e complesso di note speziate e balsamiche di liquirizia, fiori secchi, ciliegia matura e note di tabacco. Il sorso è potente ed elegante, austero come da tradizione, equilibrato e persistente.

I ordered three bottles, a 1999 French, recently opened, made a great impression.
The other two are a Barolo Serralunga d'Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d'Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015, which I have yet to open but the prospects are excellent.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent, the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and protruding but I still managed to protect it.
Great prices that you won't find on other similar sites.
I will definitely be back to buy more.
