Barolo F.lli Serio e Battista Borgogno is a historic Piedmont wine produced by the Borgogno family in the Barolo area with 100% Nebbiolo grapes from traditional vineyards often linked to the Cannubi cru. In those years, production followed a classic style with long macerations and aging in large oak barrels, designed for longevity rather than readiness. Today, if well-stored, the wine can exhibit evolved notes of leather, earth, truffle, tobacco, dried leaves, and dehydrated red fruit with a strong tertiary component and a structure very different from modern Barolos. Being a collectible bottle, its current quality depends entirely on the state of conservation of the wine and the cork and can vary greatly from bottle to bottle, with some still interesting and others now oxidized or past their peak. Its value is that of the collectors' market and auctions and there is no fixed price for which it is considered a rare wine and potentially very interesting, especially if kept in good condition.
