Bruno Giacosa's Barolo is a liquid monument of world winemaking and represents a cornerstone in the history of the Langhe. This vintage is legendary because it coincides with the exact moment when Bruno Giacosa, a brilliant grape selector even before owning vineyards, decided to bottle and isolate the area's historic individual crus for the first time. Among the most celebrated versions of this vintage is the legendary Barolo Collina Rionda from the renowned Serralunga d'Alba vineyard, alongside the Riserva Speciale selections with the Etichetta Rossa label, produced only in the most monumental vintages. It also pairs excellently with game-based main courses such as stewed roe deer, jugged wild boar, or hare, as well as with the region's great, long-aged cheeses such as Castelmagno d'Alpeggio. To savor every nuance of this masterpiece, we highly recommend uncorking the bottle several hours before serving, keeping it upright to allow the sediment to settle on the bottom, and letting it slowly oxygenate in the glass without using a decanter to preserve its most delicate aromas intact.
