Il Barolo Riserva 1965 di Francone, con i suoi 13% di alcol, è un vino che racconta decenni di storia del Nebbiolo piemontese. Nel bicchiere si presenta con un colore granato profondo, ormai tendente all’arancio antico ai bordi, segno della sua lunga evoluzione. Al naso si apre con un bouquet elegante e complesso: note di cuoio, tabacco dolce, ciliegie mature e sottobosco si mescolano a sfumature di spezie delicate, rose appassite e una leggera nota di liquirizia. Con l’ossigenazione emergono tocchi di frutta secca e cenni di humus, che rendono l’aroma stratificato e avvolgente.Al palato si conferma armonioso ed equilibrato: i tannini, ormai morbidi e setosi, sostengono una struttura elegante e sorprendentemente viva, mentre l’acidità, ben calibrata, dona freschezza e lunghezza. Il finale è persistente, con ricordi di sottobosco, tartufo e cacao amaro. È un Barolo Riserva da meditazione, ideale per essere assaporato lentamente, un vero pezzo di storia vinicola che racconta la maestria e la tradizione della cantina Francone.

I ordered three bottles, a 1999 French, recently opened, made a great impression.
The other two are a Barolo Serralunga d'Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d'Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015, which I have yet to open but the prospects are excellent.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent, the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and protruding but I still managed to protect it.
Great prices that you won't find on other similar sites.
I will definitely be back to buy more.
