Berlucchi Cuvée Imperiale Dosaggio Zero is a classic method sparkling wine that focuses on precision, cleanliness, and stylistic rigor. Made in the heart of Franciacorta from a blend of predominantly Chardonnay and a touch of Pinot Noir, it immediately stands out for its complete absence of added sugars: a choice that makes it a pared-down, almost surgical expression of the terroir and the raw materials.
In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow color, permeated by a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, it is elegant but never opulent: notes of yellow-fleshed fruit such as peach and apricot emerge, accompanied by citrus nuances and more complex hints of bread crust and yeast, due to the long aging on the lees.
The palate is where its character truly shines. The attack is clean and dry, with a lively acidity that adds momentum and verticality. It doesn't seek softness or roundness: it's a taut, direct wine, with a clean flavor profile and a long, savory, and slightly minerally finish. This controlled hardness makes it very gastronomic.
It's ideal with delicate yet flavorful dishes: raw fish, light fried dishes, risottos, white meats, and fresh cheeses. It also works well as an aperitif, but is at its best at the table, where its freshness cleanses the palate and enhances the flavors.
