The Brunello di Montalcino 2011 Campone (Frescobaldi) is a red wine obtained from pure Sangiovese Grosso grapes that represents a classic and reliable style of the denomination with a more balanced and ready approach compared to the more austere vintages. It presents itself in the glass with an intense garnet red color with still contained but already visible orange reflections, a sign of an intermediate evolutionary phase. The nose is fine and quite complex with aromas of ripe cherry, black cherry, plum, sweet spices, light tobacco, leather and light balsamic and earthy notes that emerge with oxygenation. On the palate it is harmonious and well structured with tannins present but already smooth, a good overall softness supported by a balanced freshness and a smooth and precise sip. The finish is of good persistence with fruity and spicy returns. The 2011 vintage in Montalcino was warm and gave soft and accessible mature wines that are more oriented towards readiness than extreme longevity. It is recommended to serve it at 16-18 degrees with a short oxygenation and it pairs well with red meats, roasts, braised game and mature cheeses, resulting overall in a balanced, elegant and rather immediate Brunello with good aromatic expressiveness and moderate structure compared to more classic vintages.
