La 169ª edizione della Grande Cuvée ha portato fortuna a Krug dopo due anni difficili. La vendemmia del 2013 ha regalato frutti straordinari dai vecchi vigneti di Ambonnay e Ricey. La Chef de Caves Julie Cavil afferma: "Gli chardonnay dell'annata erano magnificamente freschi e puri, con grande intensità e lunghezza, mentre i pinot noir erano potenti e persistenti, con una frutta discreta, mentre il pinot meunier ha aggiunto struttura, tensione e vivacità". L’ultima edizione della KGC è un assemblaggio sorprendente di 146 vini provenienti da 11 annate diverse. Il più giovane risale al 2013, mentre il più antico al 2000. La cuvée finale è composta per il 43% da pinot noir, il 35% da chardonnay e il 22% da meunier, con un affinamento di 84 mesi nelle cantine Krug. Ciò che colpisce è la freschezza di questo vino e la giovinezza del suo naso seducente, che racconta sette anni sui lieviti. Ricco, complesso e misterioso, mandorle e nocciole si fondono armoniosamente con albicocca essiccata, pane tostato e scorza di limone. Intenso, austero, secco e indimenticabile.
