Château des Rochers, è una realtà piuttosto tipica del panorama bordolese della riva destra: una tenuta di dimensioni contenute, a conduzione familiare, inserita nell’area di Lussac-Saint-Émilion, una delle cosiddette denominazioni “satellite” di Saint-Émilion.
Si tratta di un vigneto di circa 7 ettari situato su suoli argillo-calcarei, particolarmente adatti al Merlot, che infatti domina nettamente l’assemblaggio con circa il 90% affiancato da piccole percentuali di Cabernet Franc e Cabernet Sauvignon, con vigne mediamente abbastanza vecchie (intorno ai 40 anni), elemento che contribuisce alla concentrazione del vino
La proprietà fa parte dei Vignobles Rousseau, una famiglia di viticoltori attiva da diverse generazioni nel Libournais, oggi guidata da Laurent e Stéphanie Rousseau, che rappresentano circa la quinta generazione, e che hanno trasformato nel tempo un’azienda agricola mista (con allevamento e cereali) in una realtà focalizzata quasi esclusivamente sulla viticoltura a partire dagli anni ’80, ampliando progressivamente le superfici vitate
Nel complesso, Château des Rochers non è uno château “blasonato” o classificato tra i grandi nomi di Saint-Émilion, ma rappresenta bene la fascia di produttori seri e territoriali della denominazione, capaci di vini corretti, equilibrati e talvolta anche longevi, soprattutto nelle annate favorevoli, con un rapporto qualità/prezzo generalmente interessante e uno stile fedele al carattere morbido e fruttato tipico dei Bordeaux a prevalenza Merlot.
