Badia a Passignano Gran Selezione è prodotto esclusivamente dalla selezione delle migliori uve Sangiovese provenienti dall’omonima proprietà situata nel cuore del Chianti Classico. La zona è rinomata per la produzione vinicola sin dall’anno mille. I vigneti si estendono su un terreno ricco di roccia calcarea con una media dotazione di argilla ad un’altezza di circa 300 metri s.l.m. L’affinamento avviene nelle storiche cantine della Badia di Passignano del X secolo.

Si presenta di colore rosso rubino. Al naso spiccano intense note di frutta rossa matura, ciliegia sotto spirito e amarena, unite a sensazioni agrumate di arancia rossa e a delicati sentori floreali di lavanda; completano il complesso bouquet dolci sfumature di vaniglia e piacevoli richiami speziati di chiodi di garofano e cuoio. Al palato l’ingresso è avvolgente, sostenuto da tannini vibranti e setosi che accompagnano un finale lungo, persistente e sapido, con un piacevole retrogusto di cacao amaro e agrumi.

I ordered three bottles, a 1999 French, recently opened, made a great impression.
The other two are a Barolo Serralunga d'Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d'Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015, which I have yet to open but the prospects are excellent.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent, the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and protruding but I still managed to protect it.
Great prices that you won't find on other similar sites.
I will definitely be back to buy more.
